ChoreoFin

ChoreoFinは、水中生物のヒレやエラに着想を得たKinetic Dressである。観賞魚であるBetta splendensの鮮やかに広がるヒレ、leucistic axolotlの房状のエラ、P Polypterusの連なるヒレなどは、進化の過程で獲得された機能を持ちながらも人に装飾的な美しさを感じさせる器官である。これらにインスピレーションを得て、生理的機能と装飾性のあいだにある曖昧さを衣服表現へと昇華した。また、人魚や半魚人といった神話的存在のイメージを重ね合わせ、生命感とファッションの装飾性が交わる姿を追求している。素材には、布の柔らかさや通気性を損なわずに金属的な輝きを付与したナノ金属被膜布（nano-metal-coated fabric）を用いることで、生物の鱗を思わせる質感とドレスとしてのエレガンスを表現している。ヒレやエラを模した部分は、形状記憶合金を利用した15本のアクチュエータによって有機的に動き出す。ChoreoFinは観客の動きに応じて震え、呼吸するように揺らぎ、海中に息づく生物のように佇む。

ChoreoFin is the kinetic dress project inspired by marine organisms with the fins, a half-fish man and Mermaid. The fin of the ChoreoFin has a complex and beautiful texture made from the nano-metal-coated fabric and sway slowly by shape-memory alloy actuators. The ChoreoFin can be quite sensitive to human presence. They may freeze or vibrate in surprise when suddenly approached. If you watch calmly, they keep swaying like breathing in the ocean.
